Bring that four to the floor hey heeeey!! As a TRUE music lover, I've been open to, and fully enjoyed each and every set brought to the competition! I was starting to forget there are epic beats in so many varied genre's other than Techno prog house(I'm and avid lover) !!!!! Oh Jeebus!!!! So big ups to setting me straight and smacking that opinion out me!
So yeya, big ups to each and every one of you that came along and was part of the competition.

Decknology competition to me is about the best a talented DJ can do with the thirty minutes they got that night. And who ever pulls finger on the night, and smashes those thirty minutes, in my mind, wins. know what I'm saying. I don't for one minute pretend to think its a reflection of how one is in general in the art of dj'n.

So yeya, I'm hoping and asking all crew and whanu come down and support these geezas on Friday. The more the merrier.
And don't let their cool calm and collected demeanor's fool you! There are most definitely butterflies fluttering around, inside the boys tummies! WORD!

Hey guys. Night two was a completely different kettle of fish! Drum and Bass in ya face! Ha! A very close semi final, MARTY J kickin it in the end.

Well done bro, you set was full of energy, and good vibes. So nice to see djs enjoying themselves! A lot of supporters were there for you.

Sup! Yeeeeeharrrrrr, Cat finals are well under way!
Last night Four Djs from Wednesdays heats smashed it out at the dux de lux.
Big ups to all you boys! You had a nice wee d floor going there! Yal even got me up cutting shapes. And yet again, crew at the dux loving the new fresh tunes being brought to the venue.

Bravo PSYMON BARNET, You frikkin smashed it boy! Was a great experience watching the crowd go to putty in your hands! KA PAI!!!

The bar has been set high for both tonight and next weekends antics. Be sure to come down to the dux tonight for a dose of dub step and d&b with some of chur churs rising up and comings.

Something to think about....

HOW JUDGING WORKS:

Judging will be marked out of a total of 50. There are 5 different category with each category scored out of 10. The categorys are as follows:

GAIN CONTROL - Judge will be looking for the following...Volume control during mixing, fading in and out of track...using the mixer as a tool.

BEAT MIXING - A basic but fundamental technique for many genres-but not all. Points will be added for speed change or interesting pitch control. Points will be taken away for galloping or heaven forbid-the train wreck.

TURNTABLISM - Turntablism will be scored on any additional physical technique used to enhance the mix. Not having any doesn't mean you will score low - it really depends on appropriate use...

THE MUSIC - We will be looking at how your set flows. Beginning or end of the set. Any unusual selections that give your performance another edge or create dynamic in the set.

X FACTOR - Stage presence...energy and enthusiasm...original material...MC along for the ride...thing like that. OH!! BLING BABY YEYA!!!!!!!!!!!!

BEST DEMO:
RDU is pleased to announce a new competition for 2009 to showcase the best produced track or song. Entries will be judged on the overall sound quality and production values and will give consideration to composition. The winner must be part of the production, but is not limited to playing a single role ie: composer and engineer. Best Demo is NOT genre specific and proudly presented by Redbull for 2009.
There is an AWESOME prize for this one folks. Shall get a list of those out into cyber space very soon

Step by step to entering the comp

Sup homies. Entry forms are now out and about in our fine city, and on line...
STEP 1: Pop up and grab an application off us in da real at the studio. Upstairs at the USCA building 90 Ilam Road. Or if like me, universities scare the bejebuss out of you (all that higher learning); check out the top of this page. Click and simply download the entry form muy rapido styles.

STEP 2: Print that sucker out, or roll into tubular form and carry with you out the studio door and down the stairs to the car park.

STEP 3: Fill it out. I recommend blue bic flic. But whatever. I hear their made in France now days anyway :D
Now, last year I really appreciated the bio’s some of you cool cats prepared. There is a small section on the application, but please feel free to attach any information at all. You know, things like when you first got into djing. Your musical inspirations. What clubs/gigs or mates parties you’ve been playing at. Even star signs and hobbies! Hang on a minute emz, this is Christchurch’s hottest d.j comp. Not some lamo classifieds! Scrap the last bit about hobbies and star signs LOL.

STEP 4: Post that bad boy back to us at RDU98.5fm, PO BOX 31244, Ilam, CHCH.
Or, whilst getting some dope threads to wear for the comp, drop it into Hunters and Collectors, 235 High St.
Or, go grab a beer at the Dux and chill. Leave it with the friendly bar staff.

STEP 5: Let your crew know you’ve entered. The more support and peeps on the nights the better. Last years energy from friends and family was as electric and eclectic as the music.

Hey hey, just a wee fill in for yal. Last week we had a launch party for decknology and roundup. A whole bunch of us hung out upstairs at the dux for a few hours. Had some yummy pizza, sunk down with a couply beers. The general vibe was that of excitement for the upcoming gigs. Hard to believe a years whipped around allready!! Sponsers seemed as amped as i am. Appreciated all who came, and cant wait to get going with these heats baby yearh!!!!!!!

Sup homies!!! Its emz here!! woooo hoooo, I’m super excited to be on board decknology again. As we delve into the depths of winter, rdu brings you Christchurch’s hottest dj competition, guaranteed to rev up your weekends!!

Last year was a lot of fun. And if you’ve met me, you’ll know I’ve always been one to say that Christchurch has got massive talent when it comes to electronic musicians/dj's. And i was well impressed at the talent that came my way.

Competition entrant’s were all across the board. Ranging from bedroom dj's/producers, to long standing club circuit and outdoor party djs.

The energy was electric (pardon the pun!)And the crowd and i weren’t the only ones looooving the dance music that was spilling out of the bar into the courtyard!
Staff at the dux said it was refreshing to hear live electronic music in the bar.

Soooo I’m going to be your point of reference. Doing regular updates regarding the competition, interviews from last years competitors and such. Keeping you posted on what’s going on, who’s entering or any questions you’ve got for me. All that kind o malarkey! You get the picture!!
So dust off those needles, or get the scratches outa those cds gals and guys!!
